Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND)
Many children will have additional needs at some point during their time in St. Cuthbert’s School. These may be related to health, emotions, behaviour or learning. We aim to identify and address these needs through our school’s inclusive practice.
The Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) is Mrs K Lunt. She can be contacted via the school office.
Tel: 0151 228 4137
The SEND Governor is Ms Fran Murphy.
The SENCo ensures that all staff follow the SEND Code of Practice, to support the needs of every pupil. This may be provided through carefully differentiated work, an adult giving extra support through small groups, time with our Lead Practitioner (Mrs Jackie Hilton) or using specialist services from outside the school. By carefully addressing individual needs, we aim to ensure that all children at St. Cuthbert’s will be given every opportunity to achieve their true potential.
At St. Cuthbert’s Primary, we work in partnership with outside agencies such as:
- SENISS (Special Educational Needs Inclusion Support Service)
- SLT (Speech and Language Therapy)
- CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services)
- Outreach support (e.g Clifford Holroyd, Abbots Lea, Aigburth High)
- Health and Social Services
- Educational Psychology
- SEN Consortia
The SENCo liases with each agency to review the programmes in place for individual pupils, in order that their specialist advice may be incorporated into personalised provision.
Since September 2014, the Children and Families Bill requires Liverpool schools to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available for children and young people with special educational needs aged 0-25. This is known as the Local Offer.
